Waste was meant only to be thrown away before this mountain of waste, Nanjido, was reborn as an environment-friendly park and Sangam World Cup Stadium, venue of FIFA World Cup 2002. Through its Landfill Recovery Project, it has become an eco-educational site and a symbol of the new environmental millennium.
